BETTER KNOW A STABLEMATE—JASON CISNEY
“Sing us a song, you’re the piano man.”
What is your name?
Jason Cisney.
What is your favourite colour?
Blue.
What is your favourite word?
Indubitably.
Who is your favourite musician?
Tyler Joseph (from Twenty One Pilots).
What is your most marked characteristic?
I’ve been told my pinkies are really long.
What talent would you like to have?
I just wanna be a fast boi.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Aside from surviving 20 years on this cruel planet in a fragile human form, probably teaching myself to play the piano in roughly a year and being able to play stuff it probably should’ve taken me many more years to be able to play.
Who are your heroes in history?
Stazza (is he old enough to be considered a historic figure yet? 🙂)
Who are your heroes in real life?
My dad, as clichéd as it sounds. He’s had a tough life, but he’s one of the best people I know. Also, Stazza. 😘
What is your idea of happiness?
Happiness is overrated. Life is about being happy and sad and everything between, above, and below. A good life is having a good balance of each and finding the beauty throughout it all.
Where would you most like to live?
Is the Moon an option? Otherwise, it doesn’t matter much to me, honestly. (I might even be down for the van life.)
What profession would you like to attempt?
Moral philosophy professor … or a pianist/musician (or both).
What is your greatest extravagance?
I’m not a big spender in general; I’d almost consider myself a minimalist at heart. But there’s a few things I’m willing to splurge on—a quality vehicle (not showy, just good functionality/efficiency), piano-related things, and running-related things.
What is your most treasured possession?
Yamaha DGX 660. 😍
Why did you start running?
Honestly, I just wanted to be good at something, and soccer wasn’t working out too well in high school; so, I made the switch.
What does running mean to you now?
I definitely view it a lot differently now. Running, in and of itself, is pointless, just like life. But also, like life, we give it meaning. To me, it represents the concept of experiencing adversity to become stronger and to become capable of more.
I think if I ever stopped running because it was just “too difficult,” I would also not necessarily be able to justify being alive, either. Not in a dark/suicidal way; it’s just that running reminds me that sometimes experiencing pain/being out of your comfort zone is necessary to get what you really want and to get the most out of life.
What do you like about Stazza’s Stable?
I like that despite the fact that we all live all around the world, it feels like a very close-knit community. It’s very inclusive and supportive, and it doesn’t feel like anyone is “above” anyone else.
What is your motto?
No one’s getting out of this thing alive. Live while you’re here—don’t just survive.
