GREENE SPANKS PB

CELEBRATING: Dave quaffs the pints

Dave Boy Greene gave his marathon PB a 13-minute spanking at Sunday’s Dublin marathon. Greene obliterated his 2:55 PB to finish in 2:42.

In the middle of August, Greene joined Stazza’s Stable, hoping for a good run in Dublin. Since joining The Stable he’s worked diligently and his hard work certainly paid off in Dublin.

Hungover Greene told The Stable News: “The structure and guidance of Coach Stazza’s training made all the difference. The reality of what I’ve achieved in such a short space of time is just sinking in.”

Coach Stazza told The Stable News: “David was a  little anxious before the race: he was concerned about the volume of the taper. I reassured him and he seemed ok. I told him he was in 2:42 shape but reiterated how important it was for him to run at 2:45ish pace until 20 miles, and then hammer it home over the final six miles.”

Greene’s Strava feed bounced with praise. Sten ten Klooster posted: “Excellent running David, well done! It is unbelievable the progress that you have made…”

And fellow Stablemate, Shirley Walsh posted: “My God, thats some serious running….congratulations!”

Overwhelmed Greene replied with his usual grace and humbleness: “Thanks for all the comments lads. Had a great day, perfect conditions, and hard training really stood. Bring the on the next challenge.”
