Favourite word(s) ever … The only people for me are the mad ones: the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but who burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow Roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars, and in the middle, you see the blue centrelight pop and everybody goes, awww!

Bob Dylan.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Fiery.

What talent would you like to have?

Is being able to be totally present and fully concentrated a talent? If so, I’d like that talent.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My three boys.

Who are your heroes in history?

Bruce Lee, Janis Joplin, Hank Williams, Jack Kerouac, Tina Turner, and John Prine.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My husband, Eamonn, and my three sons, Quinn, Coen, and Tristan. Also: Kate Moss, James McMurtry, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and Keith Richards.

What is your idea of happiness?

Peace.

Where would you most like to live?

I love Adare, but I’d love to combine it with Ballinskelligs and Belize.

What profession would you like to attempt?

Fashion designer.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Not current, but the Audi TT I had before I had the boys.

What is your most treasured possession?

An old piano that my old piano teacher gave me.

Why did you start running?

To help my mind and all the noise.

What does running mean to you now?

Everything—it’s up there with my family.

I’ve only had a snapshot, and it looks like the coolest thing I’ll ever be part of.
