BETTER KNOW A STABLEMATE—EOIN COLLINS

Broadband, TV, and home phone for only €40 a month.

What is your name?

Eoin Collins.

What is your favourite colour?

Red, maybe—although I don’t own many red things.

What is your favourite word?

B*ll*x.

Who is your favourite musician?

Whoever breaks out a guitar at 3 a.m. at a wedding.

What is your most marked characteristic?

I’ve been told I’m so laid-back I’m horizontal.

What talent would you like to have?

Would love to be able to sing.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Meeting my wife while working in door-to-door sales, and eventually convincing her to marry me. She never did buy the broadband I was pitching.

Who are your heroes in history?

I can’t honestly think of anyone. My heroes are all personal to me, or sportspeople who are still alive (Eric Cantona, Ronaldinho, Roy Keane).

Who are your heroes in real life?

My parents: two wonderful, utterly selfless people.

What is your idea of happiness?

Sport, friends, food, and a couple of nice pints before dozing off on the couch watching more sport.

Where would you most like to live?

In the moment.

What profession would you like to attempt?

Sports journalist.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Probably my runners; I’m not big into material things.

What is your most treasured possession?

My wedding ring, probably.

Why did you start running?

Started working in an office and going insane from being inside all day. It’s my headspace.

What does running mean to you now?

It’s the parts of the week where I can focus entirely on myself. That little window where it is permissible to be a little selfish and check-in with myself.

What do you like about Stazza’s Stable?

The wide-ranging community of all ages and abilities around the world. Stazza himself has a way with words that I envy.

What is your motto?

It’ll be fine in the end, and if it’s not, it’s not the end.
