BETTER KNOW A STABLEMATE—RYAN CARLEY
International man of mystery Ryan Carley lets his answers do the talking.
What is your name?
Ryan Carley.
What is your favourite colour?
Midnight blue.
What is your favourite word?
Weekend.
Who is your favourite musician?
Dave. (The rapper, not some bloke from the pub.)
What is your most marked characteristic?
Commitment and patience.
What talent would you like to have?
See into the future.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Buying my first home in London at 23.
What is your idea of happiness?
A muddy walk with man’s best friend.
Where would you most like to live?
In the middle of nowhere.
What profession would you like to attempt?
Physiotherapist.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Definitely my dog, Ralph. (Closely followed by my girlfriend, Hannah.)
What is your most treasured possession?
My bed.
Why did you start running?
I stopped playing football as I got older, and worked away more, but wanted to stay as active as I could. My first “run” occurred when I was working away one night and wandered down to the hotel gym, only for it to be closed. I thought I might as well give a run a go as I was in my gym clothes, so I went out for a not-so-easy 30 minutes. (Elapsed time—47 minutes.)
What does running mean to you now?
Running is an hour or so by myself that gives me the chance to think about everything—or nothing at all. Particularly during these COVID times, it’s the time I look forward to getting out of the house/office.
What do you like about Stazza’s Stable?
That there are a few hundred people just as motivated as me to better themselves as runners.
What is your motto?
I really need to think of my own motto.
