BETTER KNOW A STABLEMATE—TIM JONES

Running is always on Tim Jones’ mind.

What is your name?

Tim Jones.

What is your favourite colour?

Yellow.

What is your favourite word?

Happy.

Who is your favourite musician?

Elvis.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Single-mindedness.

What talent would you like to have?

Singing.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Don’t have any; I never think about things in terms of success and failure.

Who are your heroes in history?

Dr Martin Luther King.

Who are your heroes in real life?

No single person in particular; there are so many inspiring stories and unsung heroes who put others before themselves on a daily basis.

What is your idea of happiness?

Time with family and friends, enjoying the simple things in life. Alternatively, celebrating with doughnuts, burger, pizza, and beers after running a marathon PB!

Where would you most like to live?

Japan. Lived there for six years in my twenties and would love to return.

What profession would you like to attempt?

Rock star.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Running shoes and races. As well as the cost to enter, I use them as an excuse to travel, too!

What is your most treasured possession?

None, really—my wife is a hoarder, so I’ve become very good at throwing things away! I’m a believer in memories, rather than possessions (and experiences rather than money), so I suppose I’d say photos or mementos I have around the place to remind me of good times.

Why did you start running?

To lose weight and get healthier when I got to my forties.

What does running mean to you now?

It’s become a passion and vital for my daily well-being. If I’m not running, then I’m usually thinking about running. The gains I’ve made in running have permeated into all aspects of my life, too—such as giving me better discipline and confidence.

What do you like about Stazza’s Stable?

I love the structure it gives me, and the confidence that I’m training productively. Only been a member for a few months and hoping to get involved with The Stable more and more. Really love the relaxed and supportive vibe from everyone.

What is your motto?

Be kind.
